How can they be prepared to sacrifice their own children for an ephemeral thing?” Have they forgotten that even if they cling to that power, sooner or later they will have to relinquish the position, if not through being voted out, then it would be through old age.

The Ogun state chapter of the Nigerian Union of Journalists recently honored some eminent Nigerians during its NUJ 2008 press week.
At the award night held at the Iwe-Iroyin house on 19th December 2008, Adele Oba Kolawole Lawal was honored along with other distinguished personalities like Chief Olagunsoye Oyinlola (Executive Governor of Osun State), Alhaji Sikirulai Ogundele (Chairman Ifo Local Government) and others.
The Ogun state chapter is noted for its objectivity and dynamism. The chapter is vibrant and has been known to contribute positively to the progress of the Nigerian media (both print and electronic).
Adele Oba Kola Lawal delivered a speech on the need to pass the pending "Freedom of Information Bill" by the Federal House of Assembly to guarantee press freedom and facilitate the development of Journalism in Nigeria. The award ceremony was chaired by Alhaji Lai Labode a veteran journalist.
The ceremony was well attended by guests from within and outside the country including the United Kingdom, Ireland and the United States of America.
